Job Purpose:

Roads Resident Engineer will be responsible for Contract Administration, Supervision and Quality Control for projects site work and will be the focus of contact between the Client, the Project Manager and the Contractor on site.

Requirements

BSc or BEng or BTech in Civil Engineering

Registration as a Professional Engineer/Technologist (Pr.Eng / PrTechEng) with ECSA

Minimum 5 years relevant experience in construction, projects site supervision and project engineering.

Thorough working knowledge of specifications and Bill of Quantities (COLTO / COTO, SANS 1200, project specific etc.) & Conditions of Contract (SAICE GCC, FIDIC, NEC).

Proficient Microsoft Office skills required

Responsibilities:

Ensuring on-site project implementation adheres to quality, time, and cost requirements while complying with approved construction plans, schedules, and specifications.

On-site liaison for issue resolution between Client, Office Personnel, and Contractor.

Developing a comprehensive communication plan with Project Stakeholders.

Handling project document control, correspondence, file maintenance and managing site office accounting activities.

Reviewing contractor claims, providing technical information, making recommendations to the Client, and influencing Contractors for project goals regarding cost, schedule, and quality.

Coordinating and supervising coaching, mentoring, and training of junior site staff.

Maintain effective communication with stakeholders and facilitating effective team and client meetings.

Quality Assurance Oversight and Coordination.

Legal Compliance.

Health, safety, and environmental Compliance.

Supply chain management compliance for procurement and supervision of contracted service providers, subconsultants, and specialists.
