The Soth African Sugarcane Research Institute, a division of the South African Sugar Association are recruiting for a Research Stations' Manager, based in Mount Edgecombe.
This role will oversee the management of SASRI's seven research stations across the sugarcane industry. The Research Stations Manager co-ordinates all station-based activities in support of the varied research trials within the Plant Breeding project and other research disciplines according to the annual Programme of Work.
This position requires a challenging combination of technical, people and governance skills and experience. It falls within the Breeding and Field Resource Unit and is made up of approximately 270 permanent employees and 90 seasonal contract employees.
The successful incumbent will be required to lead the regional Research Station Managers in a way that enables them to achieve research station targets in terms of research outcomes, cane production and people and budget management. The research stations are a primary internal service and a knowledge resource to growers and as such the Research Stations' Manager must establish and maintain excellent working relationships with Growers, Extension, the Research Support Team, Plant Breeding, Crossing and Selection and a variety of research specialists.
