Job Description

Main purpose of the job:

• To coordinate evaluation of recruited participants in the different studies and assist other nurses in their daily work.

Location:

• Bara Cardiology, Chris Hani Baragwanath New Nurses Home, Soweto

Key Performance Areas:

• To do study related duties as specified by the protocol
• Conduct home visit if need be
• Assess and recognize respiratory illnesses in participants
• Compile study progress reports on number of participants enrolled and activities performed.
• Establish a working relationship with clinic nurses/staff
• Follow-up participants who fail to attend their study visits
• Collect specimens from participants
• Ensure that all participants, parents/caregivers have signed informed consent forms
• Communicate routinely as needed to the study coordinator and Principal investigator regarding clinical management of subjects.
• Attend and resolve queries that are generated by data management staff.
• Do proper filing of results and any other study related documents in the relevant assigned place

Required Minimum Education and Training:

• Grade 12
• Qualified as an Enrolled Nurse
• GCP Training
• Driverxe2x80x99s license and able to drive

Required Minimum Work Experience:

• 2 yearsxe2x80x99 Experience in a Research field as an Enrolled Nurse.
• Ability to draw and process blood samples.

Professional Body Registration:

• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as an Enrolled Nurse

Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:

• Ability to lead and work independently as well as be part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A friendly, informal attitude with excellent people skills.
• Ability to speak in local languages.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Ability to adapt to changing environment within the project needs.
