Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
Good management skills
Computing skills appropriate for medical research
Verbal, written and reading fluency in English
Excellent Organisational and logistical skills
Ability to work independently, as well as within a dynamic team
The following will be advantageous:
Previous research or clinical research experience
Knowledge about TB and respiratory infections
Availability to travel locally and internationally for site initiation and monitoring visits
Fluency in Afrikaans and/or isiXhosa
Good Clinical Practice Certificate
The successful candidate will have the following major responsibilities:
Recruitment and follow up of study participants in accordance with Good Clinical Practice
Clinical evaluation of patients and patient safety management (reviewing adverse events and serious adverse events)
Phlebotomy and transport of blood specimens to the laboratory from the clinical site may be occasionally required.
Maintenance, cross-checking (QC) and entry of accurate data at clinical site
Liaise closely and maintain effective communication with the project coordinator and the Principal Investigator.
Keeping an up-to-date register of all studies detailing timelines for reporting to Funder, ethics renewals and recruitment status.
Submitting research studies for regulatory approvals
Management, supervision, and teaching of clinical research staff as required by the project
There will be an opportunity to be involved in publications and a special program can be tailored for those wishing to pursue a masters or PhD (only if appropriate and this is not a job requirement)
Additional Information:
This position will be based between the Old Main Building, Groote Schuur Hospital, and the University of Cape Town Lung Institute, in Mowbray Cape Town
6 months Fixed Term Contract
Working Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday
