Repro / Compositor

Job Summary:

A company based in Springfield Park (Durban) in the Printing and Packaging Sector is looking for a Repro / Compositor to join their pre-press department. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and setting up artwork for print production, ensuring files are print-ready, accurate, and aligned with client specifications. This position requires excellent technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare, check, and correct artwork for print readiness according to job specifications. Impose and layout files for various print formats including die-cutting, folding cartons, and labels. Ensure all colours, bleed, trapping, and registration marks are correctly set. Work closely with clients, designers, and production teams to ensure accuracy and consistency. Manage pre-press workflow, proofing, and output to CTP. Maintain file integrity and ensure all artwork complies with ISO and company standards. Support production with technical queries related to artwork and printing.

Required Abilities:

High attention to detail and technical accuracy. Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and teamwork. Adaptability and problem-solving ability in a high-output environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

Matric (Grade 12) essential. Minimum 3 years' experience in a Repro or Pre-Press role within the printing or packaging industry. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat). Experience with imposition software and CTP workflow essential. Understanding of colour management, spot colours, and print processes. Knowledge of ISO and print production standards advantageous. Own reliable transport essential.
Salary (CTC) depending on experience.
