OBJECTIVE: Manage a team to deliver complete, accurate and timely reporting in accordance with Aspenxe2x80x99s Group Accounting Policies, internal and third-party reporting requirements and timelines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Accounting and Reporting

  • Manage a team of Financial Accountants to ensure the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of monthly income statement, balance sheet and cash flow reporting and related activities, complete with appropriate analysis and commentary.
  • Provide technical Accounting expertise in line with IFRS and Companies Act requirements (including AFS Reviews and dividend declarations)
  • Assess the impact of new Accounting Standards and Group Accounting policies and design and document processes and procedures to ensure complete and accurate implementation of these.
  • Ensure complete, accurate and timely submission of:
  • Cognos reporting (active and dormant entities)
  • GFS reporting (sales, COGS, UEP)
  • Group Reporting Packs (including review and approval of commentary)
  • Prepare/Review as appropriate the budgeted/forecast balance sheet
  • Ensuring that the Forecast and Budget Finance Processes is running effectively and in line with Internal and Group monthly timelines.
Compliance and Risk Mitigation
  • Manage the deliverables of Statutory and Internal Audits and Agreed Upon Procedures as required
  • Provide insight, analysis and prompt resolution of queries
  • Ensuring Auditors are supplied with accurate deliverables, including but not limited to:
  • Trial Balances
  • General Ledger downloads
  • Analysis and Commentary
  • Reporting packs
  • Ensure compliance with Aspen policies and procedures and drive accountability throughout organisation
  • Ensure contract compliance and pro active identification and mitigation of risks
Ensure documented, clear and concise SOPs drafted relating to the full reporting function

People and Culture
  • Deliver succession plan for all roles, focus on critical roles and middle management as part of broader BU talent management
  • Create individual development plans for direct report, adjust where needed
  • Make FLIT- Finance- Legal- IT department, the place to be by attracting, growing, retaining top talent and serving as a purpose driven leader
  • Establish high level of credibility and manage strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Value Creation/ Innovation
  • Continuous improvement to drive operational excellence and best in class business partnering
  • Lead or partake in key strategic projects
  • Design and implement at least one initiative which will save time and improve the quality/robustness of Reporting output or an associated support function
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Grade 12 / Matric
  • CA (SA)
  • At least 1+ year post article experience in a finance environment (audit or otherwise)
  • Prior experience interpreting and applying IFRS and the Companies Act
  • Team and people management experience
  • Pharmaceutical/FMCG industry and multinational financial management/reporting experience preferred

  • ERP System (SAP preferred)
  • TM1 IBM Planning Analytics (Advantageous)
