This role leans into social media content writing and editing and editorial storytelling across formats: from newsletters and thought leadership pieces to white papers, blog posts, press releases and bite-sized social captions. Whether it's an SEO-informed longform or a punchy Instagram caption, you'll shift gears smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Research/write/edit original content tailored for travel audiences-emailers/blogs/website copy/press releases/social posts
• Monitor local/global developments impacting tourism; recommend themes/topics accordingly
• Adapt tone/style per platform-from professional LinkedIn posts right down to snappy Reels captions
• Work closely with strategists/digital leads/PR team towards unified messaging goals

Requirements
The successful candidate must have/be:

• Journalism Degree or equivalent strong editorial background.
• Previous work in media, publishing, digital content, copywriting or communications.
• Understanding of journalistic conventions: clear and factual storytelling, sourcing, contextual analysis.
• Familiarity with South African press and content ecosystem.
• Curious, proactive and eager to learn how communications intersects with travel trends.
• Some SEO or digital writing experience - a plus.
• Strong affinity for social media writing - not just posting frequency but voice/tone/cultural fluency
• Able to transform "AI-drafted" text into something engagingly human
• Curious mindset: asks good questions before writing; cares about accuracy/context
• Digitally aware: understands SEO basics
• Interest or experience in travel, business, lifestyle or international affairs.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Ability to move from longform thought leadership one minute to 150-character Instagram captions the next.
• Comfortable working remotely but collaboratively.
