Job Title: Registered Nurse Trained (AICU)

Location: Clinix Tshepo-Themba Private Hospital (Dobsonville)

Reports to: Unit Manager

Job Summary:
The ICU Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality and compassionate care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. They will demonstrate extensive knowledge, skills, and experience acquired through a minimum of 3 years of ICU training. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional critical thinking abilities, excellent communication skills, and work well within a multidisciplinary team.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
1. B.Cur/Diploma in General Nursing.
2.Current registration with South African Nursing Council
3. Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience specifically in the Intensive Care Unit.
4. Successful completion of a recognized 3-year ICU training program.
5. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
6. Proven ability to manage a diverse range of critically ill patients, including those requiring mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring.
7. Proficient in interpreting and analyzing a variety of monitoring systems including central venous pressure, arterial pressure, invasive cardiac output, and intracranial pressure monitoring.
8. Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound decisions quickly in high-stress situations.
9. Knowledge of current evidence-based practices and guidelines in critical care management.
10. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
11. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and multitask efficiently.
12. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
13. Adaptability to changing technology and a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Minium Job Responsibilities:
1. Deliver care to critically ill patients based on the established standards and evidence-based practices.
2. Monitor patients closely, recognizing any changes in their condition and implementing appropriate interventions promptly.
3. Administer medications, perform procedures, and utilize medical equipment effectively and safely.
4. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and execute individualized care plans.
5. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team, ensuring information is accurate, timely, and compassionate.
6. Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families, addressing their concerns and facilitating their understanding of the care plan.
7. Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
8. Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
