Introduction
A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse Theatre Qualified at Life Entabeni Hospital, in KZN, reporting to the Theatre Manager. The position is a dual function which requires the candidate to supervise workflows and functioning of the Central Sterilization Department as per Life Healthcare standard policy and procedure. It requires robust leadership in ensuring efficiencies in managing the CSSD staff. The candidate is also required to coordinate Continuous Professional Development in Main and Day Theatre. This role also involves supervision of students and ensuring that they meet their clinical objectives
Critical Outputs

• Function as clinical expert in achieving patient outcomes.
• Ensure competence of staff and students, determine and drive criteria for effective professional socialization, create an environment conducive to learning and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders.
• Ensuring the quality nursing care activities carried out comply with the S.A.N.C. regulations, relevant legislations, as well as the policies & procedures of Life Healthcare
• Implement and maintain all SHEQ and Quality processes related to the environment
• Liaising with doctors utilizing the unit to promote good working relationships.
• Managing nursing staff labour hours to ensure adequate and cost-effective staffing, maintenance of satisfactory working relationships, performance management etc.
• Maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene for the unit, and ensuring adherence to infection control policies and procedures, as well as safety policies and procedures.
• Implementing systems for optimal stock management, ordering and charging.
• Implementing and Maintaining appropriate participative management structures to achieve all agreed upon performance targets.

Requirements

• Registered at SANC as a Registered Nurse with a post-basic OTNS qualification
• Theatre Experience is compulsory,
• Education is essential
• SAFMED CSSD training is an advantage
• Must have worked in Theatre for at least 2 years
