Michaelhouse (Founded in 1896 and set in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, Michaelhouse is a leading Anglican Independent senior Boarding School for boys from Grade 8 to Grade 12) is looking to employ a Registered Nurse to join our team of Healthcare professionals providing health care and support to the boys of Michaelhouse. The Michaelhouse San provides a clinically effective, high-quality service of nursing care to boarders and first aid care to all members of the school community. The San is staffed on a 24/7 rota by our nursing staff. As a key part of a dynamic Sanatorium team, the San Sisters play a crucial role in providing exceptional primary health care, managing chronic conditions, and supporting pupils through injury care, referrals, and preventative health measures in a professional, caring, and structured environment. The successful candidate should also be willing to become involved in the broader Michaelhouse community, while maintaining the Christian values and ethos of the school. in the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
Minimum Requirements
Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
Primary Health Care, Occupational Health Care or a Nursing Degree will be advantageous.
A Dispensing Licence that can be relocated, or a Dispensing Course Certificate that can be registered to Michaelhouse Sanatorium in order to dispense medication.
Minimum of 5 years' experience, preferably with adolescent or school-based care.
Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment.
Strong clinical skills, with experience in trauma, chronic disease management, and preventive care.
Excellent communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
Computer literacy essential (Word and Excel), and work with ADAM programme, or similar school management systems would also be beneficial.
A caring, compassionate, and student-centred approach.
Preferably have your own indemnity
Duties and Responsibilities
DUTIES
WILL INCLUDE:
Delivering high-quality primary healthcare services with clinical competence.
Providing first aid and emergency care, particularly during sporting events.
Managing referrals, follow-ups, and coordination with specialists and general practitioners.
Supervising in-patient care and administering treatment for chronic and acute conditions.
Ensuring accurate medical record-keeping and supporting medication compliance.
Coordinating health education and preventive initiatives such as vaccinations and concussion management.
Supporting the Senior Sister in administration, and strategic health planning.

MPORTANT CONDITIONS
:
This position would be best suited to someone already resident within reasonable travelling distance of Michaelhouse.
A small flatlet is provided for the San Sister's use when on duty.
* Due to the nature of the role, rotational shift work, including weekends, and occasional duty during school events or festivals during the school holidays will be a requirement.
