Job Description


The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a doctor's practice while also assisting with administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the facility. This dual-role position requires a versatile individual with strong clinical skills and the ability to handle various administrative duties effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Duties:
  • Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, medical history, and patient complaints, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Medication Management: Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the physician and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Patient Education: Provide patients and their families with clear instructions on medications, treatment plans, and disease management.
  • Wound Care: Perform wound care, dressings, and assist with minor procedures as needed.
  • Triage: Prioritise patient needs and facilitate timely communication with the physician for patients requiring immediate attention.
  • Infection Control: Implement infection control protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic clinical environment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for all patients, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure proper functioning and cleanliness of medical equipment and supplies in the clinical setting.
Administrative Duties: * Scheduling: Assist in scheduling patient appointments, follow-up visits, and coordinate with other healthcare providers as necessary.
  • Reception: Greet patients, answer phone calls, and provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone.
  • Billing and Insurance: Verify insurance information, collect payments, and assist with billing inquiries.
  • Data Entry: Accurately input patient information into the electronic health record system and maintain organized patient files.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and order office supplies, medical equipment, and medications as needed.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as medical assistants and office staff, to ensure efficient patient care and office operations.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and administrative processes.
Requirements
  • Valid registration as a Registered Nurse in South Africa. (SANC)
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a hospital or practice setting.
  • Excellent clinical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of electronic medical records systems.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to accommodate flexible working hours, including weekends and evening shifts.
