The Language Coordinator 4 leads and develops a diverse team of language coordinators and translators across multiple languages, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of translation, interpretation, and production projects worldwide. This role focuses on people management, building team capabilities, and aligning internal and external resources to achieve operational excellence. The ideal candidate is an empathetic and skilled leader, adept at problem-solving, balancing team support with project objectives, and communicating effectively across cultures. Flexibility to work outside standard business hours is required to collaborate with global teams.
External Provider Engagement (30%)
Onboard, train, and manage relationships with external translation, interpretation, and production providers.
Supervise their work, providing feedback, guidance, and leadership to build capabilities.
Oversee the translation of at least 3,000,000 words annually and manage direct reports.
Project Coordination (60%)
Perform the duties of a Language Coordinator 1, ensuring timely completion of projects using standard processes.
Manage communication, project expectations, and payments with external providers.
Balance translation, interpretation, and production workloads for assigned language(s), including file preparation, task assignment, and project tracking.
Coordinate sensitive, confidential, high-profile projects.
HR, Financial, and Administrative Coordination (5%)
Resolve human resources, financial, technical, and legal needs for direct reports, including recruitment, hiring, ATIs, and local budgets.
Other Duties (5%)
Perform other duties as assigned by the Area Translation Manager.
Must hold a current / valid Temple recommend and /or be worthy to possess one.
Bachelor's degree in business, linguistics, translation, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, typically including at least 8 years of professional translation expertise. Native speakers of assigned languages preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of project management or related experience.
Proven skills in public speaking, interpersonal communication, team leadership, coaching, time management, project management, and problem-solving, with the ability to work under pressure.
Demonstrates a compassionate leadership style.
Mastery of spoken and written English and at least one other language, with strong command of vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax.
Broad knowledge of countries, culture, history, current events, customs, and values related to the languages being translated.
Proficiency with translation and business management tools, including web interfaces, data entry, and file handling. Ability to provide basic technical support for users of these systems.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and operating systems.
Knowledge of Church doctrine, policies, and ecclesiastical organization.
* Knowledge of word processing, graphic production, and language recording best practices. Advanced knowledge of computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools is preferred.
