A vacancy for a Refrigeration Technician has arisen has arisen in the Facilities Department reporting to the Facilities Engineer or delegated authority

Purpose:

To install & maintain HVAC, refrigeration and chiller equipment, electrical & mechanical control gear, plant & machinery in good working order to ensure an adequate provision of machine & process capacity to production at all times.

Key Performance Areas:

• Undertake the safe & efficient installation and maintenance of equipment, plant & machinery as directed AHUxe2x80x99s, Chillers, Air Compressors, Air Conditioners, etc.
• Prompt and efficient attendance to all breakdowns & stoppages due to mechanical / electrical failure or fault.
• Conduct inspections & preventative maintenance of all electrical equipment, plant and machinery as directed.
• Strict adherence to all safety rules, regulations, housekeeping and lock - out procedures as laid down or instructed by the Maintenance Team Leader or Technical Manager.
• Performance of shift, overtime (subject to legislated constraints) & stand - by duties in accordance with departmental rosters or as directed by Management.
• Ensure that all activities within area of responsibilities are performed in compliance with the Company Policies and Procedures and legislation with specific emphasis on Health, Safety, and Environmental aspects
• Follow the escalation procedure
• Verify stock counts with production when there is a serious breakdown
• When there is more than one breakdown, liaise with production to determine the priority
• Undertake any other task, projects or duties as allocated by Management from time to time.

• Trade Tested Refrigeration Mechanic (Industrial)
• 3-5 years relevant experience
• Working experience in the manufacturing industry would serve as an added advantage
• Thorough understanding of the severity of a breakdown and the consequences of the breakdown to a customer is required
• Self-motivated, goal orientation, sound housekeeping ability
• Thorough understanding of production requirements and risks to the customer
