About Our Client: We are a niche recruitment/search business operated from the UK and Australia and now expanding its reach into US. The owner, Michael Taylor, is an Engineering Geologist by training and evolved into recruitment 4 years ago. He also presents the Ground Investigation podcast, with special guests from the industry, which has proved a useful business development tool. Following a recent visit to an industry conference in the US, Michael has secured a pipeline of retained work and is keen to develop a remote Recruiter who can contribute to the successful execution of these according to the timetable agreed with the clients. : Position Summary: We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Recruiter to specialise in Ground Engineering/Built Environment. This role requires someone with a strong understanding of technical engineering roles, and proven experience in identifying, engaging, and qualifying top-tier candidates. You will be responsible for building robust long lists, conducting initial and in-person screenings, and ensuring candidates meet both technical and cultural fit criteria. Recruitment is currently in the US and working hours will need to be adjusted to accommodate UK and US conversations (ideally 1-9 pm SA time). A successful candidate will be willing to flex these hours to fulfill the requirements of the role and will be rewarded with sales commission for successful placements to which they have contributed. You will have the ability to work at pace to fulfill the clients agreed timetable. The role has the potential to develop into a full 360-degree role with client-end responsibilities, including BD and managing job briefs. Key Responsibilities: Candidate Sourcing: Build and maintain long lists of qualified geotechnical engineering candidates through LinkedIn Recruiter Lite, our CRM, referrals, Lusha and other sourcing tools. Develop targeted outreach strategies for passive and active talent, to quickly engage potential candidates and get their resumes. Create a new, relevant LI account under Michaels instruction. Candidate Qualification: Conduct in-person and virtual interviews to assess technical skills, project experience, and alignment with client or company needs, and motivations to move, plus constraints. Evaluate candidates based on geotechnical software expertise, site investigation experience, and relevant certifications (e.g., PE, PEng, chartered status). Evaluate softer skills required for roles, such as communication, management, based on evidence. Prepare Candidate profile summaries based on their suitability for live roles. Collaboration: Work closely with the Owner to ensure delivery of each stage of retainer on time and to the correct standards (to be discussed for each role). Provide data regarding feedback from candidates, comparison of pay rates offered, etc. Candidate Experience: Ensure a high-touch, investigative candidate experience from first contact through interview and feedback. Be able to push back on generalisations and politely seek supporting evidence from candidates. Represent the organization professionally and credibly at in-person meetings and industry events. Able to manage candidate expectations to deliver according to timetable. Administration & Reporting: Maintain accurate records in the ATS and prepare weekly sourcing and pipeline status reports. Download relevant connections to CRM when required. Create profiles for placeable candidates while making contact. Maintain accurate records on Bullhorn of conversations and meetings arranged.
Qualifications: Proven experience in recruiting for retained search. Rapidly develop understanding of ground engineering roles and businesses. Excellent interpersonal and interviewing skills; able to assess both technical competency and team fit. Able to communicate verbally and in writing to persuade and manage candidates. Written communication should be of a high standard. Comfortable qualifying candidates in-person and attending virtual meetings or interviews as needed. Smart, business-like appearance. Familiarity with recruiting platforms (LinkedIn Recruiter, Bullhorn etc.) and applicant tracking systems (ATS). Experience of using Zoom Pro. Preferred Attributes: Comfortable working across multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, technical environment. Strategic mindset with attention to detail in both sourcing and candidate evaluation.
