The RAN planning & Design Engineer is responsible for Perform coverage and capacity planning for 2G/3G/4G/5G networks (macro, micro, IBS).
Develop site-level and cluster-level radio designs, including antenna configurations, tilt, azimuth, height, and power settings.
Run propagation modeling using tools such as Atoll, Planet, or Asset.Conduct frequency and PCI planning, neighbor planning, and code allocation (e.g., PSC, PCI, ARFCN, EARFCN, NR-ARFCN).Prepare RNP/RND deliverables: link budgets, design reports, nominal plans, and coverage predictions.
What you will do
Analyze network KPIs (CSSR, CDR, throughput, handover performance, interference levels).
Support post-launch optimization activities including drive test data analysis (TEMS, Nemo, Actix).
Troubleshoot design-related performance issues (coverage gaps, overshooting, interference, QoS degradation).
Provide design sign-off and participate in technical reviews with stakeholders.
Maintain design baselines and ensure proper documentation for future audits.
Work closely with customer teams, project managers, deployment, and optimization engineers.
Participate in governance meetings and technical workshops, providing expert RAN design insights.
Support sales/pre-sales teams in developing technical proposals and BoQ/BoM dimensioning.
The Skill you bring
Strong knowledge of 2G/3G/4G/5G RAN architecture, interfaces, and protocols (S1, X2, F1, E1, NG, etc.).
Expertise in radio propagation, RF theory, link budget modeling, antenna characteristics, and MIMO configurations.
Proficiency in RF planning tools: Asset, TEMS.
Understanding of PCI/RSI planning, CA/EN-DC configurations, VoLTE/VoNR design principles.
Familiarity with spectrum bands: 700, 800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2300, 2600, 3500 MHz, etc.
