Job Description

Our Client in the Network Industry is seeking to employ a Radio Engineer to their team based in Johannesburg.
Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (would be advantageous).
• Certifications or training in radio transmission technology may be required for some roles.
• Proven experience with radio equipment, transmission systems, and resolving technical issues.
• Own vehicle.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Strong knowledge of both analog and digital radio systems.
• Proficiency in using RF (Radio Frequency) testing and measurement tools.
• Familiarity with audio processing and automation software.
• Understanding of regulatory standards and compliance in radio transmission.
• Ability to explain technical issues and solutions clearly to non-technical staff.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve issues efficiently.

Responsibilities, but not limited to:
System Design & Installation

• Design and install radio transmission equipment, including transmitters, receivers, and antennas.
• Assist in planning and implementing infrastructure such as network systems and broadcast studios.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on radio equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to transmission, reception, signal interference, and hardware/software failures.
• Calibrate equipment to ensure optimal performance and signal strength.

Broadcast Quality Control

• Monitor signal quality and performance.
• Adjust and fine-tune equipment to maintain proper transmission and reception standards.

Compliance & Safety

• Ensure all systems comply with regulatory standards and licensing requirements.
• Follow safety protocols, especially when working with high-power transmitters and electrical components.

Technical Support & Training

• Provide technical assistance to internal teams and departments.
• Deliver training on equipment usage and routine maintenance procedures.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and equipment upgrades.
• Document technical specifications and configurations of equipment.
