Job Description

The Quantity Surveyor is a key member of the Inospace projects team, responsible for ensuring rigorous financial oversight and project tracking across all construction, optimisation, and remedial CAPEX initiatives. This role is central to maintaining accurate cost control, ensuring alignment between project budgets and financial reporting, and driving transparency and accountability across the project lifecycle. . The role requires a technically competent and financially astute team member who will play a critical role in safeguarding cost discipline and driving execution excellence across the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities





Project Tracking & Oversight

Maintain and regularly update the project tracker to reflect real-time project status and financial alignment. Ensure all active projects reconcile with finance systems and reporting. Collaborate with Project Managers to track timelines, milestones, and deliverables. Monitor progress and flag deviations from scope, cost, or schedule. Conduct feasibility studies and provide cost estimates for building renovations, conversions, and other remedial capital projects.

Financial Management & Reporting



Prepare, track, and manage project budgets. Reconcile all project expenses against invoicing and supplier payments. Produce cost reports and analysis on project performance, highlighting overruns or savings. Support Finance with month-end and ad-hoc reporting related to project expenditure.

Technical & Site-Based Duties



Interpret technical drawings and BOQs for pricing, forecasting, and variation control. Participate in site inspections to validate progress claims and quality standards, as required. Evaluate contractor and supplier claims and recommend appropriate action. Contribute to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives Support procurement and tendering processes, ensuring value-for-money and adherence to procurement standards

Cross-Functional Collaboration



Engage actively with Finance, Projects, Asset Management and external service providers. Communicate clearly and consistently on project status, blockers, and resolutions. Support the preparation and submission of capex and project motivation packs. Facilitate quote sourcing and submission approval processes.

Continuous Improvement



Identify inefficiencies or risk areas within project or cost tracking workflows. Recommend and help implement improvements to enhance financial and operational control. Support the digitisation and streamlining of QS processes and project reporting

Requirements




Must be South African Citizen


Must have own reliable transport to travel between Business Parks


BSc in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics


Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience


3+ years' experience in quantity surveying, project cost control, or construction financial management.


Excellent Excel skills and project financial reporting capability.


Experience using project management and cost tracking tools.

Experience in light industrial or logistics developments (Preferably)


Registration with SACQSP or equivalent professional body (Preferably)
