A leading client in the Civil Engineering sector is seeking a Professional Quantity Surveyor to join their Cape Town-based team in Phillipi.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to projects in roads and earthworks, crushing and screening, and demolition.
Position: Quantity Surveyor
Location: Phillipi, Western Cape
Requirements:

• Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in roads, earthworks, crushing & screening, and demolition projects.
• Proficient user of CCS (Candy) for cost estimation and reporting.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., GCC, FIDIC, JBCC, etc.).
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
• Attention to detail with the ability to work independently and in a team.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, submit, and manage tenders and contract documentation.
• Conduct accurate take-offs, measurements, and BOQs.
• Manage and track project costs to ensure alignment with budget and contractual requirements.
• Assess subcontractor and supplier quotes, claims, and variations.
• Monitor progress claims, final accounts, and cost reporting.
• Work closely with site teams to monitor productivity, costs, and timelines.
• Ensure persons under your authority are made aware of their responsibilities
• Assist in contract negotiations and the resolution of disputes.
• Generate cost/value reconciliation reports using CCS (Candy).
• Have the ability to implement procedures to quantify and cost.
• Have an understanding of the requirements to provide and obtain insurance/guarantees
• Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Previous experience with civil engineering contractors.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Should possess very good management & communication skills.
