Role Summary:

PwC is seeking a talented and experienced Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record in construction projects and management consulting to join our team in South Africa. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing cost management, project evaluation, and strategic advice to our clients in the construction industry. Qualifications / Certifications & Experience required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional registration with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on construction projects.
  • Proven experience in management consulting or advisory roles.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts and procurement processes.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools (e.g., cost estimation software, Microsoft Office, project management software).
Responsibilities of role: Cost Management:
  • Review detailed cost estimates and cost planning for construction projects, including materials, labor, and other associated costs.
  • Monitor project budgets and financial performance to ensure adherence to cost constraints. Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide recommendations to optimize project budgets.
Quantity Surveying:
  • Review bills of quantities, tender documents, and contract documentation.
  • Review and assess contractor claims, variations, and change orders.
  • Conduct project reviews/audits on various construction projects based on signed contract and applicable policies and procedures.
  • Prepare or review concept, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies
Project Evaluation:
  • Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to assess the feasibility of construction projects.
  • Perform risk assessments and provide advice on potential cost overruns or delays.
  • Analyze and report on the financial viability of projects.
Management Consulting:
  • Utilize management consulting skills to provide strategic advice and solutions to clients.
  • Offer expertise in project procurement strategies, contract negotiations, and dispute resolution.
  • Develop and deliver presentations and reports to clients on project performance and recommendations.
Client Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, addressing their concerns and providing expert guidance.
Compliance and Regulations:
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant industry regulations and standards.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to legal and regulatory requirements.
