Audit the quality of work performed, procedures and processes utilized by and for SAA Technical. Ensure compliance with all applicable national internal aviation and other legislation.Conduct investigations of significant incidents.
Principal Accountabilities
Align inspection processed with the organisation's strategic compliance objectives, designing comprehensive and risk-based inspection solutions form a holistic perspective. Ensuring products or services meet regulatory and industry standards
Evaluates product quality and testing processes and verifies adherence to company and regulatory standards.
Review report from various area but not limited to Delay sheets with regard to investigating significant discrepancies/ defects and occurrences identified which originated within Flight/ Maintenance operations to determine trends, cause and future prevention.
Carry out specific inspections prior to audits by all Regulatory Authorities to ensure compliance, accompany and assist local and foreign regulatory authorities during their audits of SAAT ensuring that discrepancies found by the authorities during their audits are identified and that corrective is taken where and as required.
Perform random inspections in areas opened for maintenance prior close-up, taking into account prior adjustments that were made.
Perform inspections and evaluations of aircraft, components and structures for condition and airworthiness prior to lease or return to owner and/or for registration and de-registration with the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) Assist and advise Production Personnel with on-job training to promote and install a quality culture in order to improve the quality of operations and the end product, by instilling the use of correct methods, procedures regulatory requirements and processes.
Continuously monitor task performance and projects using project management tools, ensure timely completion and make recommendations with regard to quality and cost without compromising safety. Identifying areas for improvement in processes and products, and recommending solutions
Compile certification examination questions, Chair/assist the certification examination results and approve or reject the issue of certificates of authorization as applicable.
Assist Third Party customers during maintenance checks on quality issues and provide recommendations in order to assist them to meet the regulatory requirements.
Examine the correct use and control of tooling, equipment and materials including accurate records and metrology status where applicable.
Perform random product sampling to assess systems and procedures to ensure their efficiency and applicability. Establish causes and trends of discrepancies, defects and occurrences recommend revised procedures to management to prevent future recurrences of identified discrepancies, defects and occurrences and to improve quality and reduce costs without compromising safety.
Identify, record and compile non-conformity reports to the relevant Managers pertaining to discrepancies and negligence relevant to workmanship, documentation, housekeeping, tools, equipment and SHE. Reports to be processed i.a.w SAAT Internal processes
Assist Third Party customers with queries relating to their components.
Assist SMS department when required with Investigation of failures and incidents due to technical abnormalities, recurring defects and occurrences which originate within Flight and Maintenance Operation.
Collect data and compile reports and provide statistics to the Quality Assurance/ Control Manager as well as the HOD Quality Assurance, Safety and Risk, which may also be required for distribution to the various authorities and customers.
Scrutinize maintenance and workshop related documents for compliance completeness and correctness, reporting all discrepancies.
Attend relevant meetings e.g., Aircraft delay or any other meetings the Quality Assurance/ Control Manager as well as the HOD Quality Assurance, Safety and Risk determines relevant for that Section.
Qualifications & Experience
Grade 12 (Matric) - Essential Grade 12 or equivalent
Qualified Aviation Technician - Trade Tested
The candidate must have completed an approved aircraft type course applicable to the licenses held i.e., SACAA/EASA/FAA
OR
If the candidate is not in possession of the qualification (ISO 9001) it is expected that the candidate must obtain the qualification in 6 (six) months.
Must be / have been an appointed Senior Licensed Technician
OR
A qualified Aviation Technician who has at least 2 AME licenses on large aircraft e.g. A320, B737, A340 with 8 years working experience in aviation (MRO) in the Planning, Engineering, Training or Maintenance environment
Must have shop certification with 8 years' experience
Completed recognized auditing course will be advantageous
Knowledge and Skills
Quality Systems e.g., ISO 9000 etc. (Aviation background)
Aerospace standards, processes, procedures and Regulatory Authority requirements.
