At UCOOK we create 32 new recipes for our customers to choose from each week, and we deliver fresh, locally-sourced and ethical pre-portioned ingredients to their door. Additionally we deliver frozen meals, desserts, kids meals and baby food.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The QC's purpose is to support the Production teams Wednesday to Sunday by performing routine quality checks and monitoring processes to ensure all meal kits meet the company's quality and food safety standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and record temperatures, weights, and packaging integrity during production.
Ensuring that general day to day QC tasks are done.
Assist with daily quality checks of raw materials, packaging, and finished products.
Ensure products are correctly labelled and packaged according to specifications.
Assist in verification of cleaning and sanitation records.
Observe and report any deviations from standard operating procedures (SOPs) or quality issues
Collect samples for shelf-life testing when required.
Help maintain QC documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping.
Promote adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety protocols in the warehouse
Support internal audits and inspections when necessary.
Audit and raise non conformances from incomplete paperwork or check sheets.
To identify and communicate non-conforming products for further action.
Teach the production team about quality control concerns to improve product excellence
Perform regular quality assessments on all incoming materials from suppliers.
Assist in rejecting all products and materials that fail to meet quality expectations.
Request, manage and record any product specifications
Reporting on Non Conformances and doing thorough investigations
Participate in the calibration and verification of the measuring equipment
Support in implementing procedures
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Tertiary qualification in Consumer Science/ Food Science/ B-tech Food Technology/ National Diploma Food Technology/ Biotechnology
Basic understanding of food safety principles and GMP
Computer literate
