Job Description

Theodin Trading & Projects is hiring an experienced Health and Safety Officer (HSO) to support the Project Manager in developing and implementing a project health and safety program in accordance with Client (customer) expectations and company policy and procedures. The HSO administers the site health and safety program and advises the Site Manager with regard to all matters of quality, health and safety associated with the contract. Works closely with the Human Resources Department and Corporate Health and Safety Department on employee related matters. Proven experience and judgment are expected. • Implement and administer the site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) which may include clientxe2x80x99s safety program requirements.
• Performs duties in accordance with company health and safety program procedures and the site-specific health and safety plans.
• Investigates incidents and conducts root cause analyses with support from the Site Manager
• Compile company quality requirements e.g quality policy, quality management systems, quality objectives, control of NCR's and corrective action
• Compile and draft SHE plans, baseline risk assessment, and relevant company policies
• Serves as safety and health competent person as defined by HAZWOPER standard.
• Conducts daily site inspections.
• Uses the company EHS management software to document incidents, hazards, behavior-based safety observations, and corrective actions.
• Coordinates daily site wide tasks with Project Supervisor addressing safety concerns and resolutions.
• Conducts site-monitoring as needed.
• Ensures all training for site is accomplished and current.
• Reviews and assists with preparation of Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Communicates with project team and company management.
• Prepares and presents daily safety meetings.
• Travel and work outdoors as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Health and Safety Officers must possess: Good interpersonal and relationship building skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to manage more than one priority at a time. Proven ability to make independent and collaborative decisions. Must have strong computer skills. Must be proficient in industrial cleaning and HAZWOPER concepts where required by site. Ability to lift 40 lbs. occasionally. Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license. Education and Experience Grade 12 National Diploma Safety Management NOSA/HIRA (Advantageous) 3 Years working experience Job Type: Full-time Salary: R75.00 - R105.00 per hour Ability to commute/relocate:

License/Certification:

• HIRA Certificate (Preferred)
