PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Quality Manager is part of the SHERQ Department, reporting to the SHERQ Executive & shall participate in the development, implementation, & maintenance of the Quality management systems.
REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS / ATTRIBUTES / SKILLS: PROVEN TRACK RECORD of minimum 5 years experience in a same or similar role of which 3 years needs to be in a management role.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Manage Quality Department and budget control.
Ensure compliance with Quality standards, applicable codes and customer and legal requirements.
Responsible for setting the Business Units Quality Objectives and monitoring performance against the set targets.
Ensure that Quality Procedures are developed, reviewed, updated, implemented, maintained, and adhered to at all levels.
Keep Senior Management fully updated on the performance of the Quality management system, as well as on changes & updates that can affect the management system.
Ensure that Quality Plans/Inspection and Test Plans are timeously compiled & submitted to meet client specific requirements.
Ensure that data books are compiled within the required time frames and contain the required records.
Ensure that equipment is calibrated as required.
Ensure that Quality incidents are comprehensively & correctly investigated.
Liaise with clients, suppliers and third-party auditors as required.
Ensure that awareness training on Quality aspects is conducted.
Monitor that NCRs are raised as and when required. Liaise & advise Management & staff on the correct handling & close-out of NCRs.
Report on all NCRs & the associated costs.
Conduct Internal and Supplier Audits and ensure that relevant records are maintained.
Ensure that reports and statistics are compiled and communicated to the SHERQ Executive and Business Unit General Manager.
Advise and guide management & staff on Quality matters as and when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Trade Test Artisan/National Diploma (Mech) or similar
SAIW Inspectors Level 2 or equivalent
Certificate or Diploma in Quality Management
ISO 9001 Implementation and Internal Auditing Certificate
Supervisor/management courses
Valid drivers licence
Must have industry-specific experience within the metal industry.
Experience must be in a steel fabrication environment for at least 5 years with a good understanding of the associated manufacturing, health and safety standards and design codes.
Knowledge of Legislation (OHS Act, Pressure Equipment Regulations)
