Patensie Citrus Limited (PSB) - situated in the Gamtoos Valley is a 94 year old company specializing in the exporting, packing, production and cultivating of premium citrus under our globally recognised Patensie brands.

The company has been experiencing above normal growth and due to continued increase in volume an opportunity to contribute to our dynamic team exists for an appropriately experienced individual. We are therefore awaiting applications for the following position:

QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER - PACKING

The role of the Quality Assurance Officer is to provide citrus quality guidance to the packing facility, achieve the quality objective continuously by means of a quality assurance system and good control systems and in the process support compliance with food safety standards.

Responsibilities carried out within a team environment refer to, amongst others, the following key aspects:

  • Manage, lead and monitor the quality team on production lines
  • Monitoring and communication of all fruit quality standards to ensure that the final product meets requirements and standards
  • Develop, implement, maintain and improve quality systems
  • Evaluation of final product against client/market requirement
  • Precise record keeping and timely accurate reporting
  • Liaise with management and staff in the company to ensure that the quality system functions properly
  • Regular liaison with PPECB
  • Ensure that HACCP/BRC documentation in relation to quality assurance is correct and complete
  • Handle any queries
  • Personnel management and discipline
  • Continuous training and development of staff
Essential qualifications, skills, and experience Candidates will supply reliable references confirming the following:
  • The candidate must have passed Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Formal qualification in Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Food Science will be an advantage
  • Applicable quality/production management experience, preferably in fruit agriculture
  • Approximately 2 or more years integrated exposure
  • Proven Computer literacy - MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • A stable work history in a production environment preferably citrus fruit packing
  • Good leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to function effectively in a labour intensive and pressurized working environment
  • Must be willing to work extended hours during the season
The remuneration will be in line with the requirements of this position.
