Job Description
Blue Cross Veterinary Hospital in Newlands, Cape Town, is looking for a permanent full-time veterinary nurse to join the current team of 4 small animal vets, 2 equine vets and 3 veterinary nurses. Candidate must be qualified and registered with the SAVC.
The position requires a nurse who is comfortable working with equines and small animals. Competitive salary offered. New graduates welcome to apply.
Competencies:
Provide nursing care to hospitalized patients, including patient monitoring and health checking & feeding.
Administer treatments such as tablets, injections and fluids
Undertake applicable diagnostic tests, e.g. blood sampling and x-rays
Confidently handle and restrain animals (though there is a team of orderlies available daily)
Prepare animals for surgery and perform some minor procedures, e.g. suturing wounds and dental hygiene
Monitor anesthesia
Assist veterinary surgeons with operations
Assist with placing medical orders

Newlands, Western Cape: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
