It's an exciting time to be part of the IFF Operations team at our Cape Town location! We have a great opportunity within our Quality Control team, supporting Nourish (ingredients) Operations.As the Quality Control Technologist, your main role is to ensure that the final products are safe for human consumption and are of acceptable quality standards. Your role will entail performing testing and inspection of the products in a manner consistent with the guidelines and specifications of each customer with regards to safety and quality.Role requirementsAs a Quality Control Technologist, you will be responsible forxe2x80xa6

• Act as back-up for the other QC Technologist as required.
• Perform any tasks delegated by QA manager.
• Assist with quality related decisions in the laboratory and during production process deviations investigations.

Food Safety responsibility:

• Adhere to all Food Safety requirements in terms of Personnel Practices and Hygiene.
• Food safety team member.
• Preparing and conducting Toolbox Talks, Quality Imaging, Stop for Quality and other quality initiatives with other teams.
• Participate in all continuous improvement programmes related to Quality and Food Safety.

Operational and Safety requirements:

• Exercise FELT leadership for the safety of employees.
• Adhere to all safety instructions and signage.
• Safely conduct all operations as per operational procedures.
• Participate in all safety engagements such as Gemba walks, Near misses, Drills, and other plant safety initiatives.
• Assist the operations team with problem solving related to Safety.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Food Technology or B.Sc. Food Science
• 3 years' experience in the Food Industry

Operational Deliverables (key tasks):

• Evaluation and related admin of final product batch sheets, results capturing, and release of final products
• Communicate any final product-related deviations, raw material and/or packaging-related deviations before release
• Creation, management, and maintenance of all Inspection Plans on SAP
• Arrange external equipment calibration and coordinate the internal equipment verification cycle
• Manage Non-conformance processes, including handling of rejected materials
• Manage the final product internal/ external testing programme, liaising with the external service providers and performing related admin tasks
• Manage the Hygiene Team, QC Online Team
• Coordinating the replacement and re-stocking of lab equipment (beakers, trays, Petri dishes, etc) for efficient lab operations
• Coordinate the procurement of QC lab reagents and ordering of cleaning equipment on behalf of all departments
• Maintain site religious certification (Halal and Kosher)
• Oversee storage, archiving, and disposal of retention samples
• Managing the cleaning efficacy and the cleaning verification processes, communicating the outcomes to relevant teams
• Conducting all Food Quality and Safety related internal inspections as scheduled (internal audits, housekeeping inspections, and facilities GMP inspections)
• Conducting traceability exercises as needed
• Support problem-solving related to CCPs, OPRPs, PRPs, GMPs and other staff concerns
