The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing quality control processes, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, national standards (SANS 10142), and client requirements throughout the E&I construction and commissioning phases.
Key responsibilities and Duties:
Develop and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) for E&I works.
Conduct and document inspections on cable installation, terminations, glandings, MCCs (Motor Control Centres), and instrumentation.
Witness and verify tests including insulation resistance, continuity, torque checks, loop checks, and point-to-point verifications.
Review installation works against approved drawings, datasheets, and SANS standards.
Manage pre-commissioning and commissioning inspections with client representatives.
Maintain accurate QA/QC documentation including test packs, calibration certificates, redline drawings, punch lists, and corrective action records.
Ensure full traceability of materials and installations from procurement through commissioning.
Coordinate with client QA/QC teams and resolve Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) in a timely manner.
Audit subcontractor QA practices and contribute to final turnover documentation.
Skills Required:
Strong understanding of QA/QC systems and documentation control.
Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and ITPs.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and quality management software (Aconex, Procore - advantageous).
Strong coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills
Inherent requirement of the job:
Valid Code 10 Drivers license advantageous
Educational Background:
National Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering.
ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor certification (preferred).
Familiarity with SANS 10142 and South African OHS Act compliance.
CompEx / Hazardous Area Certification - Advantageous.
Experience/ Requirements
Minimum 5 years QA/QC experience in E&I construction or commissioning.
Previous experience in oil & gas, power, or industrial plant environments is essential.
Proven ability to work with MCCs, instrumentation loops, and QA systems.
