3. JOB PURPOSE
To apply specialist Electrical expertise in order to ensure the efficient operations of the Facility;
To ensure plant Electrical equipment is Operated and Maintained as per the relevant manuals and documentation to mitigate any risk of voiding equipment warranties;
Ensure all Maintenance activities are planned and managed in accordance with the relevant CMMS systems (Fiix/SAP) and as per instructions of the Plant Manager;
To assist the Head office Asset manager and performance Engineer with data required for reporting (daily, monthly, quarterly and ad hoc insurance claims.
Satisfy the requirements for GMR 2.7 appointment
4. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety
Ensures a safe working environment for himself and his colleagues while working on any equipment;
PTW - Ensures that there is a Permit to Work for all work as necessitated by the Plant HSE Procedures;
Procedures - Ensures adequacy of all relevant procedures at the facility including that for MV switching ORHVS;
Equipment and tools - Ensures that all necessary tools are available, maintained, calibrated and safely stored to ensure safe and efficient maintenance on site;
Conduct last minute risk assessments.
Maintenance Task Planning and Execution
Ensures efficient scheduling and execution of both the Scheduled Maintenance (SM) and Corrective Maintenance (CM)
Ensure Key Equipment Availability and Down Time KPI's are correctly calculated, reported and managed
Completes all Work Orders (WO) generated in the CMMS;
Generates reports (mainly log sheets/check sheets) as necessary for the maintenance records;
Ensures that maintenance of all Electrical equipment is in accordance with OEM Manuals for the equipment;
Reviews Electrical Maintenance Procedures and suggests improvements;
Equipment Failure Trouble Shooting and Repair
Supports reliable and accessible 24-hour call-out functionality;
Considers all possible means of reducing equipment downtime and ensuring high Plant availability;
Performs troubleshooting activities as necessary along with the OEM Engineer and colleagues to determine failure cause and efficient remedy ;
Ensure issue of Flash Reports within the required time;
Attends and witnesses all electrical rectification works undertaken;
Works with Plant Operations Personnel for resolving problems encountered with Electrical equipment under the guidance of the Plant Manager and Head of Operations.
Reporting and Planning
Ensure all data required for reporting is provided on time
Ensure activities on site are planned sufficiently in advance to prevent delays - crane hire etc
Assists the Plant Manager with daily jobs - inspections etc.
Tools
Ensures necessary tools and equipment is available and in good working order at the facility;
Ensure correct tools are used for each job;
Reports loss of tools or damage to any tools to the Plant Manager;
Informs the Electrical Engineer of any requirements for tools;
Ownership
Assumes ownership of plant Electrical equipment and strives to keep the facility in the best possible condition.

Continuous on-the-job application of the Company HSE Routines;
Frequency of safety incidents and near misses. Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR);
No EHS Compliance breaches.
Work completion on time;
Filled up logs/record sheets;
Work quality.
Efficiency at work;
24-hour accessibility;
Quality of records and reports
Condition and availability of tools in good condition.
6. HEALTH & SAFETY
The Job Holder will work in a controlled hazardous environment.
Work Levels and Conditions and Risks:
Work Level 4: the tasks that he/she performs as part of their daily work activities represent a risk of accidents of medium kind that can generate permanent consequences (burns, mutilations, irreversible wounds);
Exposure to Risks:
Traffic/automobile accidents, ergonomic problems and accidents;
Risks inherent to the job of the Electrical Technician while performing inspections, site visits, operations and maintenance activities, etc.
The Maintenance, Operation and HSE Department;
The Job Holder must communicate with his own team (other Electrical Technicians), the Electrical Engineer and Contractors as necessary.
FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES AND DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY
The Job Holder makes decisions within clearly defined parameters and under the guidance of the Plant Manager;
The Job Holder makes decisions in line with company objectives and objectives of the Operations
8. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Education
High School Diploma or;
Trade/Technical Training School
Computer literate: must have a some degree of skill in Business Computing Applications such as Databases, Word Processors, Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Maintenance Management System;
Language
English Language: excellent communication skills both written and verbal;
Afrikaans/Setswana /Sesotho is an advantage;
Experience
At least 10 year experience in the Electrical maintenance of a large power plant, 3 of which must have been in the capacity of Electrical Technician
Use of safety systems
Use of computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
Experience in the maintenance and repair of PV inverters and related equipment;
MV switching (Authorized person) / GMR 2.7
Utility scale PV plant construction or operations.
Behavioural Competencies
Strong Electrical aptitude
Must be a strong team player;
Must be able to think clearly and respond calmly in emergency situations;
Must have excellent organizational skills;;
Knowledge of the kinds and types of equipment installed derived through a combination of hands-on experience and formal training performed in the manufacturer's factory and/or at the job site;
Demonstrates skills in the use of tools, test equipment and calibration appliances;
Must be comfortable with computer generated data, instrumentation, Scada and sensors;
Hands on background in water treatment and water purification equipment;
Working knowledge of Environmental Regulations as they pertain to the operations and maintenance of an energy generating facility;
Ability to perform First Aid and CPR
