We are offering a compelling opportunity for a Senior Superintendent Specialized Dignity Protection Investigations (DPI) within our Security team. This role involves assisting the Section Manager Dignity Protection Investigations in overseeing complex investigations and information gathering activities relating to Bullying, harassment and victimization on behalf of Valterra Platinum Ltd. The position reports directly to the Section Manager: Dignity Protection Investigations and the successful candidate will be expected to apply best practices in investigative and information gathering techniques to investigate reported cases with the aim of addressing the company's Zero tolerance approach towards Bullying, harassment and victimization withing the workplace.
Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Manage and coordinate work and plans for the DPI team through effective liaison with Section Manager DPI
  • Personal planning and work scheduling for investigative work within DPI
  • Conducting high profile and high value significant investigations
  • Continuously liaise with the Section Manager DPI on investigation strategy and policies to best investigate and identify implicated parties
  • Monitoring and advising on Security tools, techniques and methodologies to support business initiatives.
  • Manage information gathering systems within the Unit to support management decision making for the protection of employees
  • Input of ideas for DPI decisions
  • Identify opportunities to improve security and investigative approaches within the Operational Area.
  • Support the development and acceptance of business plans and strategies within the unit
  • Participating, accepting and drive of business plans and strategies for the DPI Unit
  • Assist and support the DPI unit to achieve improved performance and continuous improvements
  • Deliver Awareness programs to various sites across the business
  • Develop and implement BVH prevention and response programs that are aligned with international best practices, standards, and organizational strategies
  • Ensure survivor-centered approaches in all interventions, focusing on confidentiality, safety, and empowerment of survivors
  • Coordinate the delivery of a multi-sectoral response for survivors, including medical, legal, psychosocial, and protection services as needed
  • Monitor and evaluate program activities to ensure that services are meeting the needs of survivors and achieving program objectives
  • Promote a positive and supportive work environment that fosters teamwork, professional development, and adherence to ethical standards
  • Raise awareness within the community and workplace on BVH issues, prevention strategies, and available services for survivors
  • Present cases during disciplinary processes on behalf of the employer.
Good employee relations:
  • Effective two-way communication within the DPI unit

  • Support and participate in the training and development requirements of employees especially in terms of new systems and work practices

  • Oversee and give guidance to junior investigators
  • Support the induction of new employees in DPI Unit
  • Interviewing potential new recruits
  • Identify potential conflict situations and minimize the implications
  • Control discipline and ensure fair decisions regarding Employee Relations
  • Fairly manage cultural diversity
  • Identify ideas to increase motivation and competencies
  • Ensure that work is fairly allocated
  • Ensure competency of employees for the work required
  • Advise employees on career opportunities and the requirements to achieve personal growth
  • Mentor DPI members towards personal growth
Administration of necessary systems:
  • Compile accurate and high-quality investigation reports related to the role
  • Participate in the implementation of Security policies and procedures required of DPI
  • Support projects for the implementation of applicable work practices to support policies
  • Monitor incident reporting and ensure necessary investigations
  • Manages own performance and deliver on DPI KPIs as per strategic plan
  • Support the management of financial control in the Unit
  • Ensure accuracy of systems and information
  • Effective administration of criminal investigations through to conviction where necessary
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other information customers
  • Manage effective communication systems in the Unit
  • Act when required in the Section manager's DPI position
  • Manage the maintenance of accurate employee and assets records
  • Conduct profiling and screening of persons of interest to agreed policies
  • Conduct required meetings including investigations
  • Manage the implementation of new required systems
  • Manage the preservation and security of investigation records and statistics
  • Assist and guide site/operations investigators
This role is in the Security department at a Band 6/10 level reporting to the Security Manager.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma in Security Management or Equivalent to Investigations/ RPL
  • Relevant experience in BHV, dignity or Gender based Violence investigations will be advantageous
  • Registered with PSIRA grade A
  • Valid driver's license code B
Experience required:
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in Security/SAPS or equivalent environment of which 5 years should be in Investigation/ Crime Information analysis / Information gathering
  • Ability to travel extensively between Valterra Platinum sites across the business
  • Computer literacy
  • Good command of English language both written and speaking
You will also need to have:
  • No criminal record
  • Pass polygraph test
  • If successful, you will be required to undergo a Medical Fitness Certification.
