The Protection Officer Specialized - Product Investigations Unit (PIU) will be responsible for the application of investigation and information techniques in the interest of Valterra Platinum in support of the objectives of the Product Investigation Unit in order to ensure that employees and assets are protected. Investigation and information gathering support and will be part of the activities of this role.
Personal risk is a factor in the role due to covert / overt / investigations and information gathering duties, (if applicable) criminal investigations.
Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Continuously liaise with the Protection Services Manger PIU on investigation and information gathering activities.
  • Ensure that safety and legal standards are adhered to in performing protection duties
  • Secure and safeguard equipment issued / used for investigations / information gathering
  • Ensure that materials, resources and equipment are available and in working order
  • Conducts inventory and ensure all assets are accountable for.
  • Drive company vehicles effectively and safely and comply with standards
  • Ensure that the protection initiatives facilitate the need of the Operation
  • Communicate problems to Protection Services Manager PIU
  • Compile accurate investigation / information gathering reports
  • Maintain applicable Safety, Regulations, Legislation, Codes of practice and standards applicable to PIU
  • Conduct and/or participate in required meetings
  • Support the protection of assets in high risk situations
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other information customers
  • Complete regular audits and observations required
  • Ensure all reports are submitted
  • Ensure that PIU administration requirements are complied with
  • Ensure that investigation information is accurate and secure
  • Ensures that all tasks and duties are done, as prescribed and in accordance with standard procedures and in a confidential manner
  • Act as a witness when called upon in criminal and disciplinary cases
  • Effective liaison with PIU members and Law enforcement agencies
  • Review, translate and compiling source reports
  • Identification of PGM syndicates that is a threat to the company
  • Translation and scripting of video / audio recordings
  • Act as Interpreter
Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • Registered with the PSIRA on grade B
  • Valid driver's licence code B
Experience:
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in Security or equivalent environment
  • 2 years' experience in Control Room
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Computer literacy
  • Communications in English (spoken, written and reading)
  • Writing of statements
  • Fluent in reading, writing and speaking African languages
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • No criminal record
  • Pass polygraph test
