The Group Office is responsible for governance and for the Group's centralised functions, which include: Finance, Actuarial and Risk Management, Strategy, Human Capital, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability.
What will you do?
The Project Manager coordinates and manages the long- and short-term project needs for the Project Management Office, ensuring that fit-out renovations, mechanical & electrical projects are completed efficiently: meeting quality standards, governance and project goals.
The role is expected to oversee and track deliverables of various projects against set standards and budgets and report on all phases of the project cycle to ensure timely, cost effective & successful project delivery.

Key result areas / Role outputs:

  • Supports the activities of the Programme Manager in fulfilling his/ her duties relating to overall projects
  • Responsible for coordinating multiple projects used to meet program main goals
  • Oversees the entire project process from initiation to close-out while ensuring proper communication between interdependent teams in the company (cross-functional teams)
  • Devise program plans and monitor project budgets to control costs, minimize expenditure and report on financial performance
  • Work with Space Planners & Facilities Managers to ensure integrity of planning is incorporated into the design and construction phases of the project
  • Collaborating with architects, engineers and contractors, assessing their work quality and progress against timelines and budget
  • Comply with all standards and regulations, including permits and safety, and deliver technical files and other technical documentation as needed
  • Evaluate and assess project strengths and weaknesses and implement mitigating and/ corrective measures where required
  • Other responsibilities include:
  • Prioritizing, scheduling and monitoring requests
  • Maintains databases, project files, spreadsheets and related documentation on new construction, renovations, remodels, and expansions
  • Meeting with affected departments to recommend changes in space utilization or assignment; and identifying and resolving Vendor SLA management
  • Budget, financial management and payments to contractors upon completion of tasks
  • Continuous improvement and innovation in project management
Role Requirements:
Qualifications:
  • Appropriate project management qualification e.g NQF 6 qualification
  • 5-10 years Project and/or Programme Management experience
Knowledge & Experience:
  • Managing and leading cross functional teams
  • Project and people management skills
  • Sound knowledge of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge, understanding and application of OHS Act
  • Proven and extensive working experience in Building and Construction Fit-out
  • Excellent knowledge of layout plan reading
  • Proficiency in site layout, utility design, regulatory approvals etc.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Ability to adhere to budgets, submit necessary budget amendments, and adhere to timelines
