Doxim's Next Project Manager (Johannesburg)
We have an opportunity for the right candidate to join our Professional Services team as a key contributor. We are seeking a Project Manager who will lead both large- and small-scale professional service project implementations for a diverse range of clients within the financial services industry. In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of project engagements, including scoping, initiation, tracking, reporting, closing, and billing. The position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, and the successful candidate will report directly to the PMO located in the United States. While working hours are flexible, the role requires availability that aligns with clients operating in the North American time zone.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The project management of customer technical engagements from pre-sales to project close
Creating related Statements of Work that encompass all requirements, deliverables, schedules and pricing.
Developing meeting agendas, holding regular client meetings, drafting and distributing meeting minutes
Producing internal documentation such as project templates, training agendas
Tracking the progress of an implementation to meet deliverables, maintain budget and the go-live date. This includes managing customer expectations around project timelines and delivery deadlines
Maintaining detailed schedules, performance statistics and metrics to monitor the progress of projects on various aspects like scope, quality, productivity and time-line
Tracking project plan deviations leading to the need for change requests. Creating change requests and getting sign off by customer
Ensuring project team faithfully and accurately records all hours in time tracking and project management tool (FinancialForce PSA)
Managing internal, external and sometimes geographically dispersed resources to meet development, configuration and delivery commitments and deadlines
Building and maintaining detailed project management plans to include resource, schedule, cost, and quality components
Drafting detailed project governance and communication plans that address key stakeholders' requirements
Monitoring compliance with project task assignments and milestones
Managing all aspects of a project to ensure that informed decision making is supported. Frequent contact with business, technology, stakeholders and other possibly geographically dispersed team members
Provide overall leadership to the project team and create an environment where team members are motivated to perform
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, project management, business or other related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working in a financial services environment
Experience working in a software environment
Experience in document processing, document imaging, electronic content storage
5+ years Project Management experience, ideally in a financial services environment
Experience managing application development project teams in both traditional and agile project management methodologies
Strong negotiation skills
Proven ability to manage internal, external and geographically dispersed resources to meet development commitments and deadlines
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
Highly motivated, self-directed individual
Proficient PC skills using project management software, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce / FinancialForce PSA, Jira an asset
PMP (or currently pursuing), or equivalent certification
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Strong organizational and presentation skills
Ability to create and manage complex project plans in an efficient and timely manner
Ability to self-motivate, working remotely or in office environment
