JOB SCOPE

As a Project Manager at AMANDLA, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple cross-functional, multi-stakeholder projects across South Africa. Embedded within AMANDLA's Project Management Office (PMO), and reporting to the PMO Director (SA), you will be responsible for driving strategic project execution across infrastructure development, programme activation, and economic inclusion initiatives.

You will manage project lifecycles from initiation through closeout, ensuring progress across timelines, budgets, stakeholder coordination, compliance, and learning systems. Projects will vary in scope and focus, ranging from capital infrastructure to social impact interventions, youth development activations, and organizational transformation work such as anti-discrimination policy implementation and inclusive training.

This role requires a highly organized, systems-driven individual who can operate confidently across complex stakeholder environments and adapt quickly to shifting delivery demands.

Core duties and responsibilities include:

- Oversee and manage cross-functional, high-value strategic projects end-to-end.

- Develop and present comprehensive project updates, including progress reports, implementation schedules, performance dashboards, and key insights to inform continuous improvement.

- Maintain detailed risk registers, escalation trackers, and delivery logs.

- Lead the development and implementation of anti-discrimination frameworks, including policy creation, stakeholder engagement, and HR alignment.

- Collaborate with HR and senior leadership to integrate DEI practices across all project streams.

- Assist in designing and delivering inclusive training and capacity-building workshops for staff, community members, and delivery partners.

- Develop, distribute, and track all correspondence related to the project documents, and online document management

- Coordinate stakeholders across infrastructure, youth development, and funding teams.

- Ensure compliance with funder reporting and delivery milestones.

- Support the PMO Director with strategic planning, capacity tracking, and documentation systems.

- Work with accounting and support staff to ensure all compliance documents are received and processed.

- Engage and manage excellent communication among project team members and AMANDLA teams

- Prepare documentation and agendas for internal and external learning sessions

- Follow project close-out procedures for all assigned projects: (i.e., arranging the archiving of hard copy files; receipts of necessary close out/turnover documents; compliance with close-out checklist, etc.)

- Assist with supporting PMs where capacity shortages occur

- Project Managers at AMANDLA are skilled implementers, capable of balancing attention to detail with long-range planning. You will be required to move across infrastructure timelines, programme targets, and partner coordination with flexibility, accountability, and speed.

CORE COMPETENCIES, ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERENCES

- Relevant professional qualifications in project management (Advantageous)

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in project management, business administration, sustainable development, or related (Advantage)

Experience / Skills:

- 5-10 years of project management experience, preferably in development or multi-stakeholder settings.

- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, across teams and sectors.

- Experience in both digital and physical project delivery (e.g. infrastructure + programmes).

- Financial acumen and ability to manage budget tracking and compliance.

- Familiarity with donor reporting and cross-functional collaboration.

- Effective communication, coordination, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

- Proficiency in project management and reporting tools.

- Problem-solving orientation with high adaptability and execution speed.

- Demonstrated experience in crafting and implementing anti-discrimination or DEI policies.

- Proven record of collaboration with HR teams on inclusive practice integration.

- Experience designing and delivering inclusive training on diversity, equity, and social justice principles.
