A fast-growing R&D company specialising in advanced electro-optical systems and machine learning technologies is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join their team. You'll work in a collaborative, hands-on environment delivering cutting-edge technology with applications across civilian, security, and select defence domains.
What You'll Be Responsible For
You will lead and manage a portfolio of technical and engineering projects, including:
Product and system development projects
Production and industrialisation projects
Support and lifecycle management initiatives
Your role will span the full project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with product development strategy, systems engineering requirements, cost targets, timelines, and risk mitigation plans.
Key responsibilities include:
Defining, scoping, and contracting projects (internal & external)
Negotiating objectives, deliverables, schedules, and budgets with stakeholders
Managing development teams, suppliers, and external contractors
Driving project planning, execution, control, and change management
Ensuring quality, cost, schedule, and risk targets are met
Creating Business Plans and tracking commercial and technical metrics
Overseeing procurement, SHE, and resource planning
Leading acceptance testing and handover to production with full documentation.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Engineering
Formal Project Management training (PMBOK required)
5-10 years' project management experience in an engineering or technology environment
Proven experience managing technical development projects
Strong working knowledge of PMBOK and Prince2 and/or Agile
Experience using formal project management tools and software
Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams
Advantageous Experience
Exposure to military, aerospace, or defence-related technology projects
Contract negotiation and cost-of-ownership experience
Business planning and commercial project exposure.
