Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the fixed term position for 3 months of a Project Engineer to be based at the Springs site. The successful candidate will report to the Project Engineer Manager.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To lead and oversee the project function at the Delmas site. To ensure projects are planned & implemented effectively in line with the Key Elements of Engineering. To manage projects from application for capital, implementation, budget control, commissioning and verification of the CSF. To ensure all legal and company safety requirements are adhered to.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use PM processes during project cycle.
• Manage specific projects from planning to execution and commissioning as required.
• Successful Project Completion on Time, On Budget, and delivering against agreed scope and critical success factors.
• Proactively lead and manage all aspects of the project including installation, commissioning and project hand over, including lessons learned
• Provide Technical support to Engineering and Production departments.
• Check completed drawings, schedules and technical manuals with design requirements.
• Selection, management and control of contractors for all engineering work.
• Effectively manage personnel and human resources using PM principles.
• Comply with all health and safety, and quality assurance procedures in implementing projects.
• Assume a leading role in promoting safety and be fully involved in all relevant sections of KES
• (Key Element of Safety)
• Actively promote all Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) programs in all engineering functions and adhere to the requirements of the Food Safety programs (AIB and HACCP).
• Develop capital budgets and equipment recommendations for projects.
• Identify cost variations during the project life and ensure appropriate action is taken.
• Manage the Procurement processes including contract documents and involvement of purchasing.
• Efficient use and upkeep of the ERP system by getting Maintenance planner and Engineering buyer involved during installation of new equipment so that preventative maintenance schedules are loaded and critical spares are purchased
• Submit Capitals for Continuous improvement projects in the plant.
• Participate, lead and support all improvement activities, Kaizen, Safety Quality Deliver Cost (SQDC), Practical Problem Solving (PPS), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) etc.).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum Engineering Degree but Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 5 Years experience in similar role preferably from a food manufacturing industry
