Project Engineer, Electrical xe2x80x93 Fixed term for 2 years

Position Overview

The position reports to the Asset Improvement Engineer, as a Project Engineer Electrical, you will serve as an electrical subject matter expert, executing the Technology and Improvement strategic plan, participating in and contributing to asset management and safety studies, executing projects and assisting project teams, in the field of Electrical & Instrumentation engineering, in order to achieve the objectives of the organization. In addition, you will be expected to actively support and participate in the decarbonisation and energy management system programs (ISO 50001).

Primary Responsibilities

This role is accountable for:
  • Assist the Asset Improvement Engineer with the management of asset improvement initiatives, projects, and programs to achieve projected outcomes
  • Manage and participate in the feasibility, design, planning, installation, and commissioning of identified electrical projects in line with internal & regulatory standards and procedures
  • Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and revise accordingly to meet changing project needs
  • Develop scopes of work, attend site visits, adjudicate tenders and compile/process tender approval documentation
  • Ensure that project data including drawings, relevant procedures and specifications are enforced and updated as required
  • Perform cost control, quality control and risk management to ensure effective cost performance, quality compliance and risk mitigation and control strategies are adopted to deliver projects successfully
  • Perform supervision activities, manage construction works, and resolve conflicts/disputes
  • Track project performance against baselines, apply adequate corrective actioning techniques to manage poor project performance and compile monthly progress reports
  • Manage project stakeholders by incorporate relevant inputs into project processes and providing project progress and status reports
  • Ensure SHE management strategies are incorporated in project plans and are implemented during project execution in line with Site procedures, policies, and strategies to ensure projects are executed safely
  • Conduct value engineering during project phases to ensure project constraints are accommodated and to seek alignment with business strategies
  • As an electrical subject matter expert, assist in developing engineering strategies, standards, and programs with key purpose to optimize the performance of assets and ensure asset integrity as well as execute or assist in executing such programs
  • Assist in ensuring and maintaining a healthy, safe and legislative compliant work environment
  • Ensure relevant engineering/regulatory standards are adhered to and changes are signed off by the Asset Improvement Engineer
  • Provides suitable technical support from within the department or via external consultants to all departments in response to operational requirements
  • Perform SHE management in line with site procedures, policies, and strategies to ensure projects and initiatives are executed safely
  • Updating maintenance plans on newly installed equipment
  • Liaising with other engineers and clients to ensure overall client satisfaction
  • Assist in Energy Management System drive
  • Support Reliability Engineers and Maintenance Managers
Qualifications & Experience
  • B Eng./B Sc./B Tech. Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Mandatory)
  • Project Management certification (Advantage)
  • Driverxe2x80x99s license (Mandatory)
  • Minimum 5 years electrical engineering (heavy current) and maintenance experience in a heavy industry environment (Mandatory)
  • 3 years Project Management experience (Advantage)
  • 3 years commissioning of medium voltage projects experience (Advantage)
