Minimum Requirements:
BSc/ B Eng/ B Tech in Civil Engineering / Relevant NQF 7 Qualification
Eligible for registration with ECSA
Valid driver's license
3 years' experience in civil engineering design and infrastructure project management, preferable in municipal or public sector
Proficiency in design software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Civil Designer, EPANET, or equivalent.
Core Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, design, and project management of civil engineering infrastructure for municipal water and sanitation services within the City, including pipelines, reservoirs, pump stations, roads, and drainage systems
Review and approve design amendments for water and sewer as submitted by internal and externally by service providers
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, designs, specifications, bills of quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and tender documentation.
Perform hydraulic and network modelling using tools such as EPANET, Civil Designer, Water GEMS, or Civil 3D.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations including SANS, DWS Guidelines, OHS Act, and municipal bylaws.
Coordinate and integrate civil engineering designs with structural, mechanical, and electrical teams.
Support procurement processes including bid specification drafting, tender evaluations, and contract award recommendations.
Supervise contractors and consultants during design, implementation, site inspections, and commissioning.
Conducting geotechnical reviews, infrastructure condition assessments, and develop rehabilitation or maintenance plans.
Preparing project progress reports, design reviews, funding applications, and compliance submissions (e.g., MIG, WSIG, RBIG).
Aligning civil infrastructure designs with IDP, WSDP, and SDBIP municipal planning instruments.
