The Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that educates the students across multiple disciplines including Accounting, Finance, Management, Economics, Industrial Psychology (including Human Resources Management), Information Systems, Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS), Institute for Social Development, Political Studies, School of Government (including Public Administration) and the Academic Literacies Programme.


The UWC Department of Industrial Psychology forms part of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences and in keeping with our vision, we are committed to be a globally recognised leader in shaping the future of work through advanced Industrial Psychology and Human Resources research, education, and practice, providing quality teaching to both our undergraduate and postgraduate students. An exciting opportunity exists at the Professorial level in this growing Department.





The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:



Facilitate learning and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Industrial Psychology/HRM Conduct research and publish in Industrial Psychology/HRM Undertake undergraduate and postgraduate supervision Provide academic leadership and administration Undertake curriculum development and assessment Undertake community engagement and outreach


Minimum Requirements



PhD or equivalent in the field of Industrial Psychology/HRM or Organisational Psychology Demonstrated experience in facilitating learning and teaching in the field of Industrial Psychology/HRM A track record of quality peer reviewed publications in the field of Industrial Psychology/HRM A record of successful postgraduate supervision (including Masters and PhD studies) Evidence of expertise, national standing, and where appropriate, an international presence in his/her discipline The integration of community engagement for societal impact with learning and teaching and/or research Experience in generating research grants

Added Advantages:



Registration as Industrial Psychologist with the HPCSA Other professional registrations, such as SABPP and IPM Evidence of sustained national and/or international recognition as a leading researcher

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Presentation and facilitation skills Adaptability and the ability to operate in a diverse environment Student focused approach Coaching and mentoring skills Planning and organising skills Computer literacy and e-learning skills Technical professional knowledge and skills in the discipline and in the core strategic areas, namely learning and teaching, research and scholarship, community engagement as well as professional leadership
