Job Summary

CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

• Supervise graduate and postgraduate students
• Conduct, publish and promote research in the field of Critical Education
• Maintain a research profile and publication output
• Contribute to Faculty activities and administration responsibilities
• Maintain a socially responsive activity
• Contribute to the building of a research culture in the Faculty
• Mentor junior researchers in the Faculty
• To contribute to the development of the Post Graduate Studies department.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Teach under and Postgraduate students
• Supervise masters and PhD students.
• Conduct research and publish in critical pedagogy and critical studies in higher education.
• Foster cross-disciplinarity and participate in the ongoing reconfiguration of the Humanities and Social Sciences.

REQUIREMENTS

• A doctoral degree in Education or Philosophy of Education
• Extensive lecturing experience
• An established record of postgraduate supervision
• A strong and consistent record of publications in the field of Education
• Evidence of academic and administrative leadership
• Strong track record of socially responsive scholarship, community engagement and public or professional service
• Scholarship anchored in approaches that seek to find critical, relevant and appropriate solutions to challenges that will benefit society to create a socially just world.
• Three to seven years relevant working experiences as an Associate Professor
