Description:
AHRI Is looking for a dynamic Professional Research Nurse who will be responsible for the implementation of AHRI's Clinical Research Strategy under the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU); provide clinical care to research participants and ensure clinical governance standards are met in line with Good Clinical Practice guidelines. The incumbent is also required to collect and maintain quality data according protocol requirements. The role requires a professional with comprehensive technical knowledge related to clinical trials, who has an efficient and systematic approach, with the capacity to grow, learn and multitask.
Overview of Duties:
Ensures compliance with study protocol by providing thorough review and documentation at each subject study visit.
Provide appropriate nursing care to study participants following the research protocols.
Complete study documentation.
Ensure that study enrolment and retention targets are achieved and maintained.
Administers investigational medications and performs patient assessments during clinic visits to determine presence of side effects; notifies Principal Investigator/Research Physician of findings/issues.
Arrange onward referral for study participants where necessary according to study protocol and clinical need.
Conduct clinical procedures and specimen collection as directed by study protocol.
Participates in recruitment and selection of study participants by interviewing and documenting medical history to determine compliance with eligibility requirements.
Communicates and collaborates with the study team including internal and external parties, sponsors, PI, and study participants
Provide high quality, comprehensive primary health care to study participants
Adhere to standard guidelines in primary health care, HIV, TB and other specific health conditions.
Refer clients and receive referred clients appropriately.
Conduct clinical procedures and manage the clinical care for research study participants
Promote preventative health care through health education and other measures.Provides education and medical information to study participants to ensure understanding of proper medication dosage, administration, and disease treatment.
Document all relevant medical data to capture and comply with protocol requirements.
Interfaces with research participants, to support efforts to determine eligibility and consenting of study participants according to protocol.
Communicates and collaborates specific study requirements to the research team, including internal and external parties, sponsor, monitors, PI, and study participants.
Ensures compliance with study protocol, by providing ongoing quality control audits, including maintaining ongoing investigational drug accountability.
Disburses investigational drug and provides relevant information regarding administration, as necessary.
Request and collect specimens from participants at appropriate times according to protocol.
Check quality and volume of all specimens.
Ensure proper labelling, package, storage, completion of AHRI's Laboratory Requisition Form and dispatch of specimens.
Liaise with AHRI diagnostic laboratory and courier company where appropriate to schedule specimen collection
Work closely with the line manager and carry out duties as directed.
Attend relevant institutional and stakeholder meetings, implement decisions, and evaluate outcome.
Ensure regular liaison with all relevant stakeholders and maintain good working relationships.
Ensure that infection control measures are strictly adhered to
Requirements of the Job
Minimum Qualifications.
Current registration with SANC as a Professional nurse. NIMART trained and experienced.
Valid driver's License
Computer Literacy (MS Office - Word, Excel & PowerPoint) Written and spoken fluency in English and isiZulu.
Minimum Experience.
A minimum of 3 years recognizable nursing experience after registration as professional nurse with SANC, of which at least 1 year must be experience working in a primary health care clinic.
Experience in providing HIV/TB and NCD's treatment and care in a primary health care clinic At least one-year clinical research experience
Experience with pediatrics appreciated
