We are currently seeking a talented Professional Project Architect to join the Roads and Highways function group in South Africa based in SMEC Bloemfontein Offices. The purpose of this position is to develop, lead, operate, and grow the function group business within SMEC South Africa.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance of drawings/plans with National Building Regulations and other relevant health requirements.

Sign off on construction drawings with architectural certification based on SACAP registration.

Manage projects, including preparation of tender documentation and use of project software tools.

Assist in budgeting, resourcing, and outsourcing within the section/function.

Develop design proficiency, ensuring increased quality.

Draft technically sound reports and provide solutions, taking responsibility for outcomes.

Check and oversee the work of team members, presenting technical work and responding to bids.

Acquire knowledge of commercial aspects of project management.

Identify and pursue leads for additional work on ongoing projects.

Specialize in niche technical expertise using relevant software tools.

Supervise a small team, allocate work effectively, and maintain client relationships.

Contribute to financial management, including forecasting and revenue recognition.

Assist in marketing and business development to generate repeat business.

Participate in winning and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Mentor graduates and manage various sections of projects.

Recommended Qualifications, Skills, And Experience:

Masterxe2x80x99s Degree in Architecture.

Minimum 5 years of architectural experience working on building and design projects within an architectural practice.

Advanced skills using ArchiCad based work experience.

Advanced skills using Photoshop or similar programs.

Pr.Arch. registration with SACAP.

Excellent attention to detail and integration of design skills.

Experience in the management of design development.

Effective time management skills.

Enhanced verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Effective problem-solving skills.

Proven organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects.

Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
