COMMUNITY SERVICES AND HEALTH COMMUNITY, ARTS AND CULTURE DEVELOPMENT
PROFESSIONAL OFFICER: ARTS AND CULTURE
BASIC SALARY: R532 737 PER ANNUM REF NO: CACD 17/25 CAPE TOWN
Requirements:

  • A relevant three-year tertiary qualification preferably a B degree or National Diploma
  • Three (3) to five (5) years relevant experience
  • Experience in initiating and developing coalitions and partnerships with various private and government arts, culture and heritage institutes
  • Experience in cultural mapping and planning methodology activities will be advantageous
  • A valid Code EB drivers licence
  • Computer literacy in MS Office
  • Operational requirements will dictate the specific start and the ending times as per the stipulated work schedule rule applicable which may include after-hours and weekends
  • The incumbent must be prepared to work in various geographic locations throughout the City and in all weather conditions.
Key performance areas:
In collaboration and in support of the Head: Community, Arts and Culture Development:
  • Provide professional support to the Branch in respect of a specialist function within the arts and culture discipline to deliver key performance areas in line with the City's Integrated Development Plan, the Arts and Culture Branch's strategic objectives and relevant national, provincial and local policies and legislation
  • Coordinate the implementation of programmes and projects including the drafting of RFQs, assessment compliance with specifications, scoping, planning, coordinating, implementing, monitoring and evaluating arts, culture and heritage projects
  • Support and implement initiatives to develop coalitions and partnerships with arts, culture and heritage institutions, including e.g. cultural mapping and planning and culture-led planning initiatives
  • Conduct research and apply monitoring and evaluation principles to further the work of the Arts and Culture Branch
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders on areas of common interest to create an enabling environment for the development of arts, culture and creativity in the City
  • Coordinate outcomes associated with utilisation, productivity and performance of personnel
  • Ensure adherence to the Citys administrative procedures and systems by managing administration relating to area of responsibility.
