We are looking for a mature and experienced individual to lead our yarn production team and ensure that all our products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. You'll need to be energetic, organised and self-directed, with the ability to foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Key areas of responsibility will include
1. Leadership and team development
o Provide clear coaching, direction and support to all team members
o Hold regular team meetings to communicate plans, progress and address challenges
o Build good relationships with individuals, and create a high-performing, collaborative work environment
o Set KPIs, provide regular performance feedback and ensure everyone has training goals aligned to business requirements
2. Production oversight
o Supervise daily activities to meet output and quality targets
o Work closely with the Commercial Manager to plan and execute production schedules accurately and on-time
o Monitor workflow and allocate resources to avoid bottlenecks
o Communicate with the sales team about order progress
3. Production efficiencies
o Maintain production records for daily, weekly and monthly reporting
o Set production KPIs by identifying standards and efficiency levels for different production processes
o Monitor performance against KPIs
o Train the team to improve efficiencies and reduce waste
4. Quality assurance
o Manage the quality inspection and assurance process to catch quality problems early
o Identify quality issues, investigate root causes, and revise production processes to eliminate errors
o Train the team to understand and deliver quality products with a continuous improvement mindset that enhances productivity and minimizes waste
5.
Inventory management:
o Order materials timeously for smooth workflow
o Track inventory items to minimise wastage and stock losses
o Provide accurate monthly inventory counts
6. Health and safety
o Enforce health and safety protocols across all production areas.
o Ensure machinery and equipment is maintained and serviced regularly for safe operation.
7. Other activities
o Establish cleaning rosters, protocols and checklists to ensure clear responsibilities, adherence to protocols and ensure the production floor and common areas are kept neat and tidy
o Other general responsibilities as may be required from time to time in a small business
The person we are looking for:
- Has 4-7 years' supervisory experience in a manufacturing business
- Demonstrates proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and manage diverse teams
- Preferably has a degree or diploma in industrial manufacturing, operations management, production management, or another related field or qualification
- Has worked with ERP software e.g Cin7, Syspro, etc for at least 2 years
- Loves plans and processes, is detail-oriented and
very
organised
- Enjoys managing people and is passionate about results
- Is comfortable with complexity, multi-tasking, and can handle change and uncertainty as this happens
- Has strong computer skills including Gmail, Excel, Word, etc
