To manage resources to achieve optimal production output in relevant process area. Support area production manager in conducting production, with specific relevance to process: work safety, product quality, economic efficiency, and logistics.
Task and Responsibilities:
Ensure availability of resources for the shift, including employees, forklifts, and other equipment, to ensure productivity and minimal downtime
Liaise with workshop/Millwright to ensure equipment is well maintained and available for the shift
Schedule workforce for the shift in the packaging department and supervise their performance
Ensure reduction of expenses and increase productivity by ensuring employees adhere to process and start and finish work as scheduled
Ensure employees in the shift are inducted, trained in Standard Operating Procedures, and adhere to health and safety practices and policy
Conduct shift meetings and safety briefings at the start of the shift
Communicate shift targets to employees and ensure achievement
Provide motivation, support, training, and guidance to your shift
Communicate any problems or obstacles to Production Manager
Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures to enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety, integrity, and client standards
Ensure production schedules for employees to achieve optimum output levels
Ensure that processes run reliably and efficiently by planning and organizing production schedules, assessing project and resource requirements
Ensure achievement of production targets to client expectation (qualitatively and quantitatively)
Determine and ensure adherence to strict quality control standards.
Production responsibility in terms of safety, environmental friendliness, cost, quality and on time production
Effectiveness and efficiency of the shift.
Fulfillment of production targets.
Health safety and hygiene requirements are followed and trained with subordinates and compliance with requirements is constantly controlled.
Efficient usage of raw materials, consumables, utilities, maintenance materials and recycle streams.
Support optimum plant equipment availability.
Organize and supervise first line maintenance (FLM).
Monitor compliance with relevant quality requirements and instruct subordinates as to environmental issues.
Regularly inform subordinates, peers, supervisor, and service departments of all relevant information.
Constantly train and assess subordinates in all relevant matter and case of poor performance take corrective action
Regularly assess equipment and process to improve operation efficiency and reduce cost and risk
Minimum Requirements
National Diploma in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
3-5 years in heavy manufacturing/production in the chemical or metallurgical industry is a prerequisite.
Must be competent in a minimum of twelve process units.
Solid supervisory experience and skills, ability to prioritize and motivate team members.
Ability to prioritize, motivate team members and impart knowledge.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Valid drivers' license
