Job Description

To assemble, solder, and test smart water meters in line with production protocols. The role is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, accuracy, and quality , while adhering to safety and continuous improvement standards to help achieve production targets.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education:

Grade 12 (Matric). An NQF level 4 certification in a technical field is beneficial.

Minimum Experience:

A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Production Operator in a manufacturing environment is required.

Competencies:

Proficiency in assembling smart water meter components (mechanical bodies, electronic modules). Precision soldering skills for PCBs, following ESD and IPC standards. Experience with functionality, water-tightness, and pressure testing using test benches. Ability to capture and record data in an ERP system for traceability. Knowledge of workplace safety (PPE), 5S, and lean manufacturing

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Smart Meter Assembly:

Assemble smart water meter components, including mechanical bodies, electronic modules, and sealing units, in line with product design and assembly protocols to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.

Electronic Soldering and PCB Integration:

Perform precision soldering to connect sensors, communication modules, and other electronic components to printed circuit boards (PCBs) used in smart water meters, following ESD and IPC standards.

Leak and Functionality Testing:

Conduct water-tightness, pressure, and electronic functionality tests using designated test benches and equipment to verify the performance and compliance of smart meters before packaging.

Data Logging and Traceability:

Capture and record assembly, test, and quality data in the ERP system, ensuring traceability from component level through to the finished product for both quality assurance and regulatory compliance.

Continuous Improvement and Safety Compliance:

Actively participate in workplace safety routines, follow PPE guidelines, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S, lean manufacturing, and root cause analysis.
