Our client in the manufacturing industry based in Port Elizabeth is currently looking to employ a Production Manager.

Role:

  • To coordinate, plan and control the operation to timeously produce an acceptable quality product at optimum productivity levels, whilst maintaining the required level of loss / rework factors, housekeeping and budgetary controls.
Requirements:
  • 5 to 10 years manufacturing experience.
  • 5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience within a managerial position.
  • Relevant Qualification (NQF6/ 7 Degree or BTech in Manufacturing or Engineering).
  • An in-depth knowledge of the operating parameters, equipment processes and related functions.
  • Knowledge of ISO Quality Systems (TS, SANS, ISO, VDA for OEMxe2x80x99s).
  • Knowledge of OSHACT requirements.
  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques (6 Sigma DMAIC, FFA, 3Q 5 Why).
  • Working knowledge in analytical fault detection.
  • Sound working knowledge of SPC, FMEA and SOPxe2x80x99s.
  • Demonstrated Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, SAP).
Responsibilities:
Production:
  • Achieved production plan.
  • Maximised machine utilisation.
  • Maximised labour utilisation.
  • Live Visual Management Boards.
  • Maximised material resources (loss reduction, daily production ratios, yields, etc).
  • Controlled reworks and quarantines to an acceptable.
  • Ensured that machinery and equipment is optimally maintained to maximise outputs.
Quality:
  • Daily FPA results review with quality team feedback.
  • Quality procedures conformed to.
  • Ensured workforce is trained in quality procedures.
  • Conducted layered audits.
  • Ensured process capability improvements are driven on a continuous process.
People Management:
  • Ensured adherence to the Company Performance Management System.
  • Monitored attendance of employees.
  • Monitored and addressed staff performance issues.
  • Disciplined staff.
  • Ensured dissemination of information received from Group and Site to all employees.
  • Achieved employee training plan.
Safety and Housekeeping:
  • Adhered to safety standards.
  • Trained employees in safety awareness.
  • Corrective/ Preventative measures implemented.
  • Ensured a high level of housekeeping is practiced and safety standards are maintained to promote a safe / healthy working environment.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive continuous improvement programs.
  • Corrective and preventative action.
Admin:
  • Presented production reports to Operations Manager / Directors.
  • Accurate employee records maintained.
  • Responsible and accountable for all activities regarding Business System, Policy, Procedures and Work Instructions.
Finance/ Cost:
  • Variable costs controlled continuously.
  • Direct labour costs controlled.
  • Established, monitored, and controlled operating budgets to ensure efficient cost control.
  • Compile budget annually from zero base and submitted by end October/ November to Operations Manager.
