Our client in the agricultural industry based in Port Elizabeth is currently looking to employ a Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage an optimized budget for the production area.
  • Develop the team of supervisors and production operators to ensure autonomy within their area of responsibility.
  • Ensure optimal productivity of production lines to achieve production plans.
  • Ensure that each position within the production line complies with the operating and quality standards.
  • Work together with R&D in the implementation of new technologies and products.
  • Implement, together with the head of maintenance, the prescribed maintenance standards for the equipment and ensure constant compliance with these.
  • Identify, propose, develop, and implement improvements for production lines.
  • Manage union relations together with HR and the plant manager.
  • Contribute to the achievement of established objectives (production volume, efficiencies, savings, etc.).
  • Ensure that the operation achieves the desired results.
  • Ensure the implementation, development, and compliance of the defined methodology.
  • Drive the culture of continuous improvement throughout the plant.
  • Oversee the life cycle of direct and functional employees through the processes of attraction, manpower planning, recruitment, training, development, retention and exit from the company.
  • Ensure highly trained, developed, and committed teams for the execution of their tasks. Develop people to maintain sustainable structures.
  • Ensure that activities within the plant are carried out under the Safety, Health and Hygiene, Environment and Quality standards.
  • Raise awareness and prevent accidents.
  • Ensure the physical and mental integrity of our employees.
  • Reduce the environmental impact caused by our operation. Ensure compliance with the quality standards established by our customers.
  • Ensure compliance with both global and local policies and procedures, proposing improvements to current processes when deemed necessary.
  • Ensure standardization in our way of operating, and contribute to the culture of continuous improvement and increased efficiencies.
Requirements:
  • Relevant tertiary education.
  • 3-5 yearsxe2x80x99 experience Supervisory / Junior Management experience in the Food/Bev or Citrus Industry.
  • Must be innovative and detail-oriented.
  • Capable of managing multiple and high-priority tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret research data for reports.
  • Ability to provide effective supervision and staff management.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively and meet firm deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be prepared to work weekends.
