The Production Manager's primary responsibility is to supervise the company's meat manufacturing process and ensure that production lines operate smoothly with little downtime. Collaborating with department managers and upper management to guarantee that all meat products are produced in accordance with industry and safety standards and to a certain quality level.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Matriculation or Grade 12
Tertiary qualification in production, management & operations preferred.
2- 4 years experience in the meat industry.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and support SHEQ (safety, health, environment and quality) initiatives and objectives.
Define, propose, and implement the optimised production plan.
Cost management of products and assist with new product costings models.
Analyse budgets and continuously control production costs and identify/rectify waste measures.
Manage all activities within the production process, including continuous improvements and the workforce.
Handle logistics and stock of raw materials used in production.
Manage all teams within the production department.
Create and implement organisational/production changes on an operative level.
Implement strategies to improve the production environment as required by top management,
Hands on production role with excellent knowledge of all aspects of meat primals.
Co-ordinate and operate the production line in terms of people, product, and equipment and maintain all associated paperwork.
Report all aspects of production to the factory manager on a daily basis.
Maintain constant adherence to all company, customer and legal requirements regarding food safety and quality assurance.
Ensure that the highest levels of service, quality and workmanship are maintained at all times.
Drive adherence to all HACCP systems and ensure that good manufacturing practices are always applied.
Ensure department is audit ready at all times.
Monitoring of productivity and performance of the department.
Understand company quality policy statement and implement its requirements.
Ensure that all customer expectations in respect of quality are met and exceeded where possible.
Monitor packaging waste in the department to ensure minimal waste.

Own reliable transport.
Must be Willing to work Retail Hours, i.e.: Saturdays/Sundays/Public Holidays/ Overtime/Shifts.
