Key Purposes




The Product Specialist is responsible for supporting, managing, and enhancing insurance products throughout their lifecycle.


The candidate will evaluate product performance, manage product-related documentation, conduct system testing, collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development, launches, and ongoing enhancements.


The role also serves as a subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders on product features, customer documentation and regulatory requirements.



EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:



Grade 12 NQF5 qualification will be advantageous Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a product manager/analyst/specialist role, within the insurance industry Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) Exposure to call centre or intermediary sales environments Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) Exposure to call centre or intermediary sales environments

Technical & Professional Requirements



In-depth understanding of insurance products, market trends, and regulatory requirements Proficiency in insurance policy administration systems SQL proficiency will be advantageous Experience in product and customer documentation management


DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Analyse product performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement Assist in the design, development, and enhancement process of insurance products, including policy features, coverage options, and pricing structures Manage product life cycles Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to identify customer needs and support product launches Validate and maintain product information on Policy Administration Systems (internal and external) Validate customer documentation changes on internal and external systems Review and link customer documents and letters to product-specific packages Maintain and update customer documentation, including: + Policy terms and conditions
+ Policy/Quote schedules
+ Disclosure notices
+ Customer letters and scripts
Ensure accuracy and compliance across all product-related documentation Analyse complex product and operational data to support informed decision-making Interpret data relating to product performance, customer behaviour, and market trends Review and oversee divisional testing processes to ensure business requirements are fully tested Validate system changes related to product updates and customer documentation Ensure product changes are accurately reflected across systems and customer-facing materials Act as a subject matter expert on insurance products, policy wording, and regulatory requirements Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including underwriting, compliance, IT, marketing, and sales Assist internal and external partners with product-related queries Schedule and manage on-system and off-system tasks Monitor task completion to ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously Perform general Product Office administrative duties as required Keep records and deliverables orderly, up to date, and audit-ready when required
