Role Definition

  • Partner with business subject matter experts (legal, compliance, actuarial, etc.) users (Sales, Client Services, Claims and Broker Agents) and scrum teams to elicit, define, clarify and prioritise business requirements.
  • Develop and articulate a vision from which a business case and value for products or process improvement ideas must be developed.
  • Define minimum viable products (MVP) for the release of new products, process improvements or projects, with clearly defined growth or value experiments that will be validated by the release. This will include possible direction changes based on the reasonably expected outcomes of the experiments.
  • Define roadmaps for product, projects or process improvements in order to drive early and incremental returns on investment.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by communicating roadmaps and requirements, negotiating and communicating priorities and timelines, managing change & providing necessary progress feedback.
  • Understand technical debt and risk expressed by the Scrum teams: the ability to negotiate the priority of the technical debt with the teams with consideration for the release plan and the ability to articulate the decision to other stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
  • Grade 12/Standard 10/NQF 4
Minimum Experience Required
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (typically, a B.Com.)
  • A minimum of 4-5 years of working experience in either development or management
  • Previous experience as part of an Agile software delivery team in any of the following roles: Product Owner, Business Analyst, System Analyst

  • Analytical and delivery-focused.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication (spoken and written) and facilitation skills.
  • Presentable, assertive, team player with leadership qualities
  • Ability to deal with, communicate and manage change.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
Candidates with the following additional skills/exposure will take the preference.
  • Previous work in an Agile environment as a Product Owner, Business Analyst or Systems Analyst
  • Exposure to the insurance and/or financial industry
